1600 Dublin - Sligo
29000 today instead of the normal 22k
|
The platform notice had Belfast Central instead of Sligo.
Train had Sligo One traveller looked rightly confused as he didn't know to go to platform 2 or platform 3 (17.15 Connolly - Longford was there). |
I was on the 9:05 AM Connolly-Sligo yesterday (Wed, Jan 27th) and it was a 29k  I thought the line was all 22k now? And of course, when the train came into the platform it said "Castleconell" so only the departures board was correct ... no surprises there.
Incidentally, what's going on with the line around Enfield? I saw lots of men in orange hi-vis vests at the lineside and I think (not always possible to tell with the newer trains) that the line was jointed. |
This is an utter disgrace. How can you have those 29ks on an InterCity journey is beyond me. Certainly not fit for purpose and false advertising. A passenger intending to travel from Dublin to Sligo would expect an InterCity train. Is that too much to ask?
Still a shortage of 22ks? Come on Irish Rail, get your act together and give InterCity passengers InterCity trains for EVERY service Monday to Sunday please. |

Am I right in thinking that there is a 6-car set not available due to the derailment in Portaloise? Hence there is a shortage of 22000s on the network?
|
There was a problem even before the Portlaoise incident
|
Don't see why they shouldn't take one of the 22k sets off the Kildare commuter run.
|
The utilisation of 22k sets seems a tad odd to me. They use one for the 0705 from Dublin to Sligo that generally has about three passengers, yet the 0905 gets a 29k. I'm not saying the 0905 is actually busy but there would be 30 or 40 passengers on it.
Presumably that 29k has been used for some other purpose earlier in the day and this is why the 0705 doesn't get it. |
I notice the 13.00 Sligo - Connolly seems to be a 29K all the time I see it
|
The 09.05 clonsilla connolly I was on a few mornings ago was a 22k.
Only three cars but stil.... |
