240808 1230 Ex Cork-Dublin problem

Well I think it's the 1230, someone just phoned me

Stopped at Ballybrophy apparently all passengers changing trains. Believed that the train in the other directions had rocks chucked at it .....

No idea about what set they're getting on or how they managed to get a set at Ballybrophy

out

Real-time info delay is consistent with the train still being in Ballybrophy, of course Irish Rail saying nothing.

There is a known stone throwing problem in that area, but the train has CCTV on the back so probably have them caught.

Could be the windscreen has been cracked on the front of the Cork bound service rendering it impossible to drive towards Cork, so swap all passengers over, Cork trains pass each other near Ballybrophy.

If thats the case a totally logical solution but looks like a total joke to the passengers unless its explained clearly, which of course it won't be.

Will they have to use the footbridge or will Irish Rail have the cop on to use the island platform?

Yep, the windshield was mentioned in the conversation. I'm picking that person up later so I'll let the board know tonight.

Update : just got a phone call; that's exactly what happened, swap the passengers over between the 2 CDE sets

it was explained to the passengers, and they're rolling again , 30 mins delay.

sounds like well done to me

Makes some sense then

Spare train could be had from the depot in Portlaoise if required

Train may have just left Ballybrophy not sure, looks to be about 40 minutes late currently, will be delayed by a local Kildare line train approaching Dublin, probably get in about 16:10

Followup : it got in at 1550 [ well that's when I got my pickup call ] so the driver must have put the hammer down.

Don't know if they used the footbridge or the bay platform.
