Any snake recipes? My pan is at the ready. |
These are all genuine foods also. Snails are a delecasy in France, I wouldn't eat them but they must have something going for them. I probably would try most of what has been posted here.

Some more marmet. None of these are quite as bad. Thanks Ciaran for sending them.

Those are so good. You've gotta love food that needs a pair of pliers to prepare it.

I am so going to Mongolia on my next holiday, that looks like a lot of fun :D

Seen this one done on TV. The preferred spider is Tarantula. Very popular in the Orient.
Large supplies of Tarantula are available from street markets, where they are also prepared, cooked and served. Amazing to see suited business people tucking in, just like we'd devour chicken wings. |
They absolutely love grasshoppers in Uganda.
When I was there, in season, they had people with huge floodlights and generators trapping grasshoppers in huge tanks and then sending them into the city markets to sell! |
I ordered crab in breadcrumbs in Sydney once. It was just a deshelled crab in bread crumbs. I actually had difficulty eating it as I feared it was a huntsman.
Thomas did you actually eat that spider thing? There are somethings man just wasn't meant to do. |
Sadly yes. I'd out eat those losers on I'm a Celebraty any day. I have even had the pleasure of watching Mrs Thomasjstamp vomit whilst watching Kangaroo Testicles being eat.
The brother is worse. I swear that one of those days he's going to decamp to Borneo for a bit of the aul cannibalism. |
cuy. tastes like chicken

Now that is Friday food
|
I once got some Guinea Pig in a resturant in Ecuador its a common enough dish there and I tought well "while in Rome......".
I had a notion that it would be some sort of a stew with some bits of guinea pig floating around that would probably taste just like chicken but when my plated arrived there was just this poor little disembowelled hamster lying on the broad of his back with four legs in the air, his fur scorched with his little beady eyes still open looking at me like he was pleading "don't eat me, I'm too cute to eat." with a portion of rice. I was right about one thing though, it did taste like chicken. BTW the other local delicacy is "Chicken claw" soup. |
I was in Ljubljana a while back with a few mates, sat down outside a very respectable looking restaurant (dinner still cost bout €20 though!). Our eyes were immediately drawn to the bulls testicles, which my mate got (I wasn't brave enough myself). Taste like chicken he said. Yum.
