Wonder would a complaint to Comreg be of any use! Phone users are being overcharged by the lack of this facility.

Thanks for that. :) I did see that on the leapcard site but, when I try putting the +353 code in front of it, it didn't work. I did spot something on the Irish Rail contact page: Quote:
Thanks again. :) |
There is no logical mapping in the numbers despite the pattern with Irish Rail's numbers. There is without question a normal number just need to annoy someone to find it
Bit of a guess bit the number is likely to be something like 01 4xx xxxx based on the physical location of the call centre in Dublin Alternatively you can call 353 1 879 8300 which is the main switch for the national transport authority and ask to be transfered |

BTW regarding the credit on the leap cards, is it definitely two years before unused credit expires? Thanks again. :) |
2 years is what they say but its completely arbitrary, presumably its 24 months from last transaction

so my new short-hop ticket arrived. Still no Leap functionality on it... whats the delay?

Major steps forward in Leap card this month
Auto top up is under test and it works, even on Dublin Bus! Attachment 1494 Irish Rail ticket machines are being upgraded for Leap, Docklands and Connolly have them and it looks like 1 extra station every second day will be added Attachment 1493 |
Great news! :-)
Is auto topup paid for by credit card or direct debit? |

It's at least a month away
We have raised some reasonable issues with the NTA. At the moment there is no way to check online or at a ticket machine that auto top up is actually live on a card No receipts or notifications that a top up took place |
Irish Rail ticket machines carrying the Leap logo also sell Leap cards
|
You should now be able to collect as Leap online top up at an Irish Rail ticket machine (Irish Rail's own smartcard system has supported this for ages), so no need to pass through the barrier to collect
|
Great news about the new features. Any more information regarding capping?
|
The machines at Pearse seem to have been upgraded. I was able to add a topup to my Leap card. I hadn't activated the card since I got it in the post, so I presume the machine did that as well.
|
Card's which are not activated cannot be topped up online, but once used in a TVM or shop they should be fine.
Heuston, Tara, Connolly and Pearse is the current confirmed list. The long running bug which we found nearly two years ago has finally be squashed. We could kill all smartcard features on a TVM in 10 seconds by confusing the machine during a top up. Total number of occurrences less than 10 but repeatable if you knew what to do. |

This bug appeared after LEAP started, but effects both Leap and Irish Rail smartcards |
Is this the "NOT_FOUND" error that breaks the purple reader poles(well aware of this problem unfortunately) or something else?
|
Its the NOT_FOUND 409 >> issue
|
Cool, great to get some publicity on it.

Are we any closer to having Ramblers on the Leap?
|
I tagged on at Hueston yesterday but then tagged off when I couldn't get on a tram there (due to Tall Ships, I guess). I got charged 1.45 even though I didn't actually travel anywhere. I rang up Luas customer care and they are sending out a cheque for 1.45.
2 things wrong here 1. surely I should not have been charged at all? 2. refund by cheque - it should be going straight back onto the card. |
We have discussed this with Luas/RPA/ITS/NTA (yes even we don't know who they work for at this stage) and they don't want to enable to transaction cancellation feature
There are some good usability reasons which don't apply to Irish Rail (turnstiles in and out sides are programmed differently) The direct card refund issue has been raised, phase 2 of Leap should solve that |
Student travelcards issued for the 2012-2013 year have a leap NFC chip and can be used for epurse travel.
Loading of weekly/monthly tickets will available in 2013 |
I notice that when my young son uses his leap card on the Dart (usually at weekends) it invariably charges him a 60c fare. This is about a 60% discount to the normal child fare. Adult fares are only discounted about 15%. Why the difference?
|
That is the DART schoolchild fare that is applicable during school hours, including, I think, Saturday mornings. However, this is different: http://www.irishrail.ie/index.jsp?p=...42#Schoolchild
Strictly speaking, it is meant for children in school uniform, but a ticket gate can't check that. |
Effectively the rules are if in school term Mon-Fri (up until sometime after 16:30) and before 13:30 Saturday the card charges schoolchild fares
|
If the intention was to have some time dependent dual pricing strategy on one card, then I don't think it's working.

Any further information on updates coming to the Leap card? I seen the functionality to activate auto top-up on the Leap site a few weeks ago. Presumably that function was being tested.
How early in 2013 are we expecting to see product tickets on the Leap card. Dublin Buses website still suggests tickets are due in 2012 but I take it that isn't correct? |

During school hours lower fares apply during term time
|
Is there any more up to date info regarding the Leap Card and it's developments? Dublin Bus capping testing has apparently commenced, is there a schedule for expected implementation of features. Also are we close to having product tickets available on the card? Thanks for any info!

I noticed on Summerhill based routes, readers having District 45 written on them. Tickets seem to respond differently than before. Thanks for the info lads! I see on their twitter the other day they expect to have Student Tickets on the Student Leap by Autumn '13? Ambitious?
