I would be very surprised if any points at Grand Canal Dock are replaced this weekend although it would be a good opportunity to sort out the mess at the Lansdowne Road end of the station.
There were no markings evident to me (this morning) on the mainline points immediately north of Grand Canal Dock. They also look to be in good condition and relatively recently renewed. Perhaps they are 1983 vintage and have survived well due to lack of use although my recollection is that they were renewed around the same time as the other points north of Grand Canal Dock. The only markings I see are for breather switches in line with new northbound signal positions. I could be wrong about renewal/alterations at the north end of Grand Canal Dock, but I am fairly confident little of signifigance will occur there over the coming weekend. |
Weekend works at Lansdowne Road saw the renewal of the structure carrying the citybound platform over the Dodder and the adjacent walkway. The running lines were not broken at any stage.
Similar renewal works appear to be planned for the southbound platform in the near future. No works were undertaken at Grand Canal Dock and it would appear the station was closed for convenience rather than necessity. |
Several passenger trains operating south of Dun Laoghaire that I saw had "Not in Service" as their destination.
