Leap Card to Drogheda
Anyone know of the plans to extend Leap Card to Drogheda. Leap people told me 2 years ago that "2 years approx."
Not even a whisper since. Would this coincide with extending the SHZ to Drogheda? Anyone got any view/insight? |
No plans to extend Leap to Drogheda exist
Season tickets are supported already to Dundalk |
Exceptional Value
Just found this on the Leap Card website.
A family of up to 2 adults and 4 children can use buses, luas an Darts for a tenner, including Airlink and Nitelink for €10. What's going on here? https://about.leapcard.ie/leap-family-card. Available from 1 March and must be used by the end of the year, with a maximum of 2 cards per order. |

It should be made permanent, not necessarily for €10, but at least provide such a useful option.

its going till the end of the year, if there is a big take up i'd imagine it'll be extended.

Is this definitely fully launched for cash fares in Cork?
I need to go to Midleton tomorrow and am presuming my LEAP Card (Cork bus ticket plus a cash balance from when I've used it in Dublin) will work. |

Hope this is appropriate place to post this.
New family Leap cards for €10 for 24 hours: https://about.leapcard.ie/leap-family-card Covers Dart, Short Hop Commuter, Luas, Dublin Bus (including Airlink and Nitelink) and Bus Eireann "Red Zone". I hadn't heard of Red Zone, so I went looking and found this: http://www.buseireann.ie/pdf/1380638...d-Brochure.pdf Great to see BE adopting a zonal system, but there's still a vast discrepancy in fares charged. For example Drogheda and Navan are both in the blue zone, and similar distances from Dublin, but cash fares are €8.00 to Drogheda but €14.30 to Navan. Leap card fares are €7.80 and €11.44 respectively. Sorry this is moving away from rail, but if they adopt a zone system, shouldn't they apply it to all relevant fares? James |

The cash fares and pay-as-you-go LEAP fares are based on the staged fare system and I can't see that changing any time soon. |
i got one which may be handy for easter, its a pity it isnt top-up-able because then it would encourage me to organise family days out a lot more as opposed to once in a blue moon (without the car)

This, however, is a promotion and to be fair, given the discounts on offer, I can understand the method used to offer these cards. |
It would be a great move to offer it as a 10 euro add-on to any intercity train or Bus Eireann family ticket. Possibly offer it as a perk for taxsaver commuters as well.

I wouldn't suggest that it is a realistic stand-alone price, but it is common practice in most businesses to offer a discounted add-on to a more expensive product. A discounted leap ticket for Dublin would make a family outing to Dublin by train a lot more attractive and would attract business to Intercity services that has effectively zero marginal cost of sale.

Using rail Point-to-Point on Dublin Bus to Connolly?
Hey folks,
I have an annual Leap Taxsaver covering commuter rail into Heuston, with an add-on of Luas/Dublin Bus to Connolly. How do you go about using on Dublin Bus though? I tried to tag on the bus but it failed. Anytime I've been scanned by a Luas rep enroute to Connolly from Heuston it has worked in handheld scanner. Cheers, Rob |
Firstly your ticket is certainly valid on the 145
You could try placing the leap card on the drivers machine and ask for the driver to validate the ticket giving your destination stop also As your ticket is not valid on the full route the right side validator is likely to complain If that doesn't work we will make inquiries |
Schoolchild Fare
From earlier: Effectively the rules are if in school term Mon-Fri (up until sometime after 16:30) and before 13:30 Saturday the card charges schoolchild fares
I just asked why my childs fare wasn't reduced for last weekend and I was told that IR have done away with the Saturday time....when did this happen does anyone know?? |
All times are GMT. The time now is 05:14. |
