Just wondering if it's usual for announcements to be made before departure in the station/on the train for intercity departures from Connolly?
Got the 19.05 Sligo train on Friday. I'd come off the DART and had my ticket so just waited on platform 4, where it usually goes from. There were a few announcement regarding the enterprise but nothing that I heard about the Sligo train.
Went out to the turnstiles and checked the display to confirm that I was on the right platform. Train arrived about 18:50 and I boarded.
There were the usual generic 'welcome aboard' announcements, but nothing indicating where the train was going. The scrolling displays showed nothing but the generic 'welcome aboard' stuff.
Bang on 19.05 the doors beeped, closed, and we pulled out. At no time had I heard any announcements either in station or on the train as to its destination.
As an added bonus, a couple of minutes out of Connolly the PA helpfully informed us that anyone not intending to travel should disembark as the train would be departing in 2 minutes. I didn't see anyone diving onto the track, but you never know ...
