Pretty rubbish alright

They did manage to interview Frank McDonald and Prof James Wickham

At the very least they could have shown us the clever side of the operation from the control centre in Connolly

It was like they let a load of chimps into the editing suite to make it.

The irish Times weekend review has an article by Frank Macdonald about the 25 years of DART.

To be fair the Irish Times piece was better

Just imagine what we could have had?

It seems to me that if Drogheda, Kildare and Maynooth are electrified, there will be a huge surplus of diesel railcars being displaced, with nowhere to go that I can see- I don't see there being enough demand on Cork and Limerick commuter services or the farcical WRC.

Official plans are only Hazelhatch/Balbriggan/Maynooth/Pace

The 2600 & 2700 fleet are destined for the scrapheap as are the 8200 DART coaches. Thats 54 coaches

Doing the math there isn't a large surplus

Suppose that will be welcomed by most people.

Cobh/ WRC etc will have the 2800 then

Bit of a disgrace really that the 8200 class (Alstom) DART coaches haven't even made it to ten years in service.

I'd say the 2600/2700s have plenty of life in them yet though (and they'll need it if the usual pace of IÉ projects is followed with this one).
