Enterprise - 1030 Belfast Central to Dublin Connolly 26-Jun-2009 10:55
The 1030 service from Belfast Central to Dublin Connolly will be operated by a Non-Enterprise service with limited catering and no 1st class.
The service departed Belfast Central at 1103hrs.
Irish Rail saying nothing, 13:20 to Belfast will be 20+ minutes late departing

It eventually got away at 1407 and arrived at 1617. 25 percent refund for me, but the on-board noise was unreal between the hen party and the hard rock party in the one carriage.

Did you notice how many coaches it had? Most have been running with 7 the last few months, which seems to have improved reliability, but occasionally I see 8.

No, I had a reserved seat so I just went straight into coach D.

8 carriages coming home today. Also a random non-national was put off the train at Dundalk after the gardaÃ* got on for an immigration check.

It could be my imagination, but for the past few months the Enterprise has been running with 7 coaches, and there have been almost no problems. The week they go back to 8 coaches, there are several lengthy delays. Coincidence?

I suppose there could be a HEP issue.

Its very warm by standards
The HEP runs the engine at full rev all day which stresses the cooling systems, so warm weather causes trouble. The air conditioning on the coaches is also on full power which draws more power again making the engine work harder
That missing coach saves 40 tons of weight and about 35kW drain on the HEP system.

Got my €5 voucher in the post today, so full credit to IÉ for speedy processing.
Accompanying letter confirms a locomotive issue.
