Belfast line, 18th June: security alert - bus transfers Newry to Dundalk by Corporate Communications

Thursday 18th June: 14.00hrs

All Belfast/Dublin line services are currently operating with bus transfers between Newry and Dundalk due to a security alert.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for the inconvenience caused.

Due to operational difficulties the 1410hrs Enterprise service will be operated as a bus substitution between Newry and Dundalk only; as such no First Class facilities will be avaialble.

A security alert on the railway line between Newry and Dundalk has disrupted cross-border train services and led to long traffic tailbacks.

A suspicious object was discovered on the line on Thursday afternoon.

The A1 Dublin Road and M1 south of Newry is closed in both directions, and traffic is being diverted.

Rail passengers are being transferred by bus between Newry and Dundalk.
