RPA Announces June Open Day for Luas City Centre/Broombridge (Line BXD)

RPA is developing plans for the proposed new Luas Line, that will run from St. Stephen's Green through the city centre to Broombridge, Luas Line BXD. This new Luas Line will link the existing Luas Red and Green Lines; it will also provide a link to the proposed new unified DIT campus at Grangegorman and will provide an interchange with the Maynooth suburban rail line services at Broombridge.

RPA is presently preparing a Railway Order application for Luas City Centre/Broombridge (Line BXD); if granted will provide the necessary powers to construct, operate and maintain the line.

RPA will be holding an Open Day for Luas City Centre/Broombridge (Line BXD):

Wednesday, 10th June 2009, 16:00 - 20:00hrs
Jury's Hotel, Parnell Street, Dublin 1.

RPA will be displaying its proposals for the city centre section of Luas City Centre/Broombridge (Line BXD) on the date above.

RPA values input and comments from the public and other stakeholders relating to the design of Luas City Centre/Broombridge (Line BXD).

Noticed an RPA van on the old Broadstone line just after Broombridge yesterday.
I thought there was to be a new Pelletstown station, and not an interchange at Broombridge?

Pelletstown is much further up, the plans where for a new station at Liffey Junction just East of Broombridge this was to facilitate the later extension of the Luas to Finglas

The Pelletstown station is Irish Rail and to be funded by developer..eventually.

The RPA have extended the Line BX/D to Broombridge with a stop there instead of Liffey Junction. They propose to build a depot and stabling facilities at Liffey Junction.

The terminus at Broombridge will be designed in such a way as to allow for a bridge over the rail line and canal up to Finglas through Tolka Valley Park.

There is no need for a stop at Liffey Junction really. It is remote and the proposed Cabra stop on the luas line coupled with Broombridge would cover the catchment area.

The only benefit would have been as an interchange but Broombridge can do that. Irish Rail werent going to fund a station there anyway.

assuming bx and d will actually be built, will the luas trams run from broadstone right through town to cherrywood or will you have to get off on parnell street and change there at the bx loop?

surely the through running option is the sensible one?

A little bit of both I suspect. Depends on the time of day maybe? I dont think it's been set in stone. The 'loop' allows for the flexibility to do both.

I still think both tracks should go down O'Connell Street. The loop is stoopid.

the northbound luas will cross o'connell bridge, the southbound luas will cross a planned new bridge linking marlborough street and hawkins street

surely the through running option is the sensible one?I imagine they wuill continue at least to St. Stephen's Green to allow direct access to the Inteconnector. Preferably they would provide an overlay service as far as perhaps Milltown.

any chance that they might actually run a ring line around the city instead of running every line to the city centre
