Earlier this month I was going from Pearse to Arklow.
Tried to get a ticket at the macines cos I had no cash.
The machine would only sell single tickets to Arklow, no returns.
this may have been cos it only sells day returns?
went to the desk to get a ticket, but they don't take plastic at all. lad said to use the machine. I asked if it sold returns, he said yep, ticket checker came over "oh yeah, you may get cash so."

I went to get cash but I still think in 2006 long distance train stations should let you pay by plastic once it's over a certain amount. and the machines should let you buy all tickets to all destinations server with no change from that station.

There is a minimum fare before the machine will allow a CC transaction its about €5, RPA machines are the same

Complaints are in about the ticket machines fare options

The ticket counter in Pearse doesn't have a CC machine

The trick to Pearse is to walk up to the guards. They are normally too busy scratching their arses to pay attention to you and will let you on to the platform through the exit without looking at your ticket.

It's one thing having a minimum for credit cards, but surley they should accept debit cards for any amount?

There is a 20c charge on Debit card transactions. They would have to be making a fair bit of profit to justify it.

it's 16 yoyo's for a return to Arklow.
I'm all too aware the ticket counter doesn't have a cc mchine. It should have.
The TVM should vend tickets too.

I don't see why the TVM won't vend a return ticket. I know the ones at Connolly will sell you a five day return to Drogheda.

I don't know why either. We're probably looking at this logically though. the problem could be there.
