The interview on Morning Ireland was about capital spending to boost the economy.

Fergus O'Dowd (FG Drogheda - Transport spokesperson) says spend all the capital monies on the Dublin Outer Orbital Route which runs from Drogheda to Naas.

No mention of any public transport spending of course and chucked in a few references to building schools etc.

Here is his press release:

Coming up to the last election, I told myself anyone but FF would be better for public transport so I voted for FG and the Greens. The latter haven't achieved anything (not that I expected them to as a minor party in government) and the former are getting worse.

Is there anyone left worth voting for?

The entire democratic model in Ireland is self serving and uninterested in everything bar short termism.

With the real effects of the Irish Depression (only does Ireland get the 'D') yet to be broadly felt by massive reductions in services and higher taxes, will the masses actually open their eyes and figure out what the politicans have actually achieved?

It's very hard to note any grand incidents of long term planning in Irish politics.

We were short sighted in the good times and lord knows we arent going to change now with money so scarce.
