Want to see a return to the bad old days of Winter?! Well yesterdays service was a reminder of those great days!! No ticket checker was present at Heuston so everyone had to wait to board the train until around 5.45, then we were allowed to board with nary a ticket checker in sight, never mind the Stasi crew from 3 months ago!

The train did not depart until 6.10/6.15- no lights working on the carriage and no air conditioning and no announcement or apology/explanation for the delay.

To make matters worse for the Newbridge commuters we watched the 6.05 Arrow service leave before us!

Finally the train pulled in to the siding at Sallins to let another service go ahead of us!!

Irish Rail tell us that there is no vendetta against Newbridge passengers, felt like it last night, train arrived in at 6.55 a full 30 minutes late - no apology anywhere

Garret, they really don't care. They'll talk the talk, but forget about it within minutes.

We're putting together a kildare on Track website to explain and record problems on the Kildare/Maynooth lines. I trust NRG will get involved and support. Kildare needs a loud and strong voice that will be consistant at Government level.

Further details will be made available by email and a broad committee under the Kildare on Track banner will be formed. This will embrace the already great work done by user groups and not effect their independent status.

a commuter texted into the last word yesteday that the overcrowding on this train yesterday was very bad. When he compained to the IE staff on the ground he was told "if you dont like it you can always walk"

complaining yesterday about overcrowding was stupid. I'm sure the guy on the ground was moithered with people complaining all day when he could do nothing about it.

When the sh1t hits the fan, you're gonna have to accept there'll be difficulties. It's the same as when someone jumps in front of a trian and delays everyone. It is not the time to complain then. The person on the ground where you are is not gonna be able to fix your problem.

anyway being p1ssed off and compailnig to someone else who's p1ssed off is a self defeating circle.

The IE guy was wrong to say that unless he had his tongue in his cheek, granted. The guy on the radio complained two times to people who could not fix his problem.

I think given the day yesterday unless it was said with venom I would have graciously taken it on the chin.
If it was one of the striking drivers though, he may have taken one on the chin :)

Overcrowding on the Kildare and Portlaoise is nothing compared to the Maynooth and Drogheda, I've never failed to get a seat on the 18:45 to Newbridge, 18:35 to Thurles or 19:05 to Galway

Key problem is unsuitable trains which don't handle it well

It is busier between 5 and 6:15pm but its nothing like the 160+ routinely moved in each coach on the Connolly side
