This has created serious issues with government borrowing for infrastructure now according to Prof Lucey.

Anglo Irish Bank may have just killed off a large infrastructure project or two.

It will be interesting to see what the net remaining value is in Anglo. It seems a similar exercise to that done in Northern Rock is in progress. It will be interesting to see how any final distribution is handled, especially to shareholders and directors with large loans against Anglo and who purchased their shares on the basis of those loans.

I was wondering over on the Slugger blog whether Anglo could be refinanced with the asset value in Postbank, with Anglo essentially taking over the back-end of the Post Office operation. Fortis would have to be bought out but they might welcome the cash right now.
