THE RED Luas line will terminate at Abbey Street over the weekend to allow works to continue on the extension of the line to the Point Depot.

This means that passengers going to Connolly Station and Busaras will be forced to walk the remainder of their journey today and tomorrow. The Docklands Luas, known as line C1, is expected to be opened by the end of the year and will extend the Red Luas line from Tallaght to the Point Depot, now renamed the O2.

Connolly and Busáras Luas stops will be closed on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th January 2009 to facilitate the construction of the Luas Docklands Line C1 extension to The Point. Abbey Street Stop will be the terminus for Luas Red Line services on these dates.

The trackworks for this extension started in 2008. In order to further progress these works, it is necessary to temporarily close Connolly and Busáras Luas stops.

The temporary closure of Connolly and Busáras stops will not affect the rest of the Luas Red Line and will not affect the Luas Green Line. Operating times, frequency of trams and fares will not be affected.
