I've had some information that reduced fares are set to go up by an average of 13.5% in the new year. This would increase a student return from Dublin to Cork from €42 to €47.50, Dublin to Galway from €28 to €32, and Dublin to Belfast from €40 to €45.50.

The Indo article I posted today suggests a 10% rise.
Of course this is even too much given that all inflationary pressures have vanished. Ireland will be experiencing deflation next year.
Other than ripping off rail customers what is the justification for a 13.5% fare increase?
You can be sure journey times won't decrease.
