I am looking at the IE website for fares from Dublin to Cork.

If I select a train, 'Standard Class', I can buy a ticket for €20.00. This is cheaper than the Faircard and Student Fairs - but maybe it's a special offer?

However, if I select First Class, the first fare that appears is €79.00... but there's also an upgrade option of only €20.00.... so does that mean that I can get First Class for only €40.00?

The T&C of the upgrade seem to indicate that I can... but doesn't that mean that two seats will be reserved on the train? One for the Standard Class ticket and one for the upgrade?

But apart from the fact that the fare is lower than the accompanying student fares, where does it state that it's a special offer?

I looked at the front page of the IE site, and there's just an Important Notice to DART & Northern Line commuters, when I finally found the Special Offer page (assuming it is the correct link) it states: There are no Special Offers available at present, and the Upgrade T&C mentions 'irrespective of type of ticket held'.

It was on the site earlier this week; I can't find it anymore now.

So I can legitimately book my EUR20.00 ticket and add an upgrade?
