Disruption of Northern Line by Corproate Communications

Due to a lightening strike between Rush and Lusk and Donabate there is currently a 30 minute delay to services in both directions on the northern line

17:07 Connolly Balbriggan is cancelled
18:07 Balbriggan Connolly is cancelled

Passengers will be accomodated on later services

Iarnród Éireann apologises for any inconveience this unavoidable disruption may cause

"Passengers will be accomodated on later services" well they won't since they won't all fit so they could be waiting for sometime

Isn't it wonderful how a simple bolt of lightning causes trouble, its hardly an unusual event. With a little care you can protect against lightning apart from a direct hit

Spell checker is also recommended, accomodated, inconveience, lightening

1815 Pearse-Drogheda is cancelled.

17:13 Pearse-Drogheda got delayed on the way to Donabate due to this. Fair play to the driver for making an announcement about the lightning strike to the passengers. Though some passengers misheard it and believed it was a union strike and there was no one manning signalling.

Yip, driver was on the ball on the 17.13. Pitty he did not let passengers know once things had been resolved though. I'm sure the stop start nature of that service gave the impression, that 20 mins delay was only the start of their problems, and therefore they may have got off the train thinking things were worse then they were.
Been a bad week all round for delays on the Northern line. Hope things improve.....

Funny enough the Northern line's inbound morning services have been excellent this week. Well, the 6:46 from Drogheda has been excellent - maybe the rest were rubblish? This morning's arrival in Pearse was a record breaking two minutes early which is quite an achievement on a service that runs late as a matter of course.

Regarding yesterday's delays, the driver of the 16:15 from Pearse was on the ball with the announcements. Pity in my carriage it came across as, "Mmmpphh uuurgh psst mumble mumble." Still, it's the thought that counts.

The key with the Northern suburban line (and maybe most other lines) is to arrive into Connolly by 8am(ish). Anytime I travel before then, things are fine. It's services arriving after that time that have to crawl from Clontarf Road to Pearse st., and that's where most of the delays build up.
I'm not sure there is ever a good time in the evening, but up to 7.30 seems to have delays
Note to self: Get up earlier! Go home later!
