I bought the most up to date version of the Dublin City and District Street Guide, launched last week. http://www.irishmaps.ie/product/display.cfm?ProductID=156

Quite a few Luas stops (Busaras shown inside the Coroner's Court, Four Courts is on the worng side of Church Street) are slightly in the wrong place and Docklands and Phoenix Park stations are out by a few hundred metres.

Aside from that there are vacant sites where there actually buildings and vice versa, much of the Grand Canal is obscured, closed hospitals are still open and the GS&W line from Connolly to Drumcondra has been moved under the roads.

On the up side it does include a series of suburban towns not previously included (some of these were previously included in the North Leinster Towns Atlas).

by the way, still not used by the Property Registration Authority, we still use the 1909 maps down here.

To be fair to the OS, the city is changing rapidly, although getting the Luas stops wrong is fairly basic.

I remember the 1979 edition had all the busstops and which buses served them more or less spot on.

Forgive me if this is slightly off topic, but the OSI annoy me. I'm sure the individual staff do a fantastic job in difficult circumstances, especially considering how fast things have been changing in this country for the past decade.

However my beef is more at the policy level. One of their stated objectives is to protect the country's intellectual property. In other words, to make sure that other people can't access their data. I'm convinced that this is the main reason there are no decent online maps of this country (Google Maps are great, but have large holes in their data), and that SatNav system frequently tell you you're driving through fields.

Many railway bridges and level crossings in this atlas are shown incorrectly - underbridges (under the railway) shown as overbridges. This may lead to incorrect journey planning by drivers of tall vehicles and consequent bridge strikes.

I met with the OSi last week and they are happy to take any corrections on board. So post away and I'll collate them and pass them on.

They even gave me a free map - that I ended up proofreading. :(

Only point would be to include in the Dublin area a statement that the safe clearance to Luas and DART overhead wires is x.xx m

Oh, its not just heights, the are lots of glitches, stations in the wrong place (anything from 50-250m), the "Arrow" brand is gone, OSi are now using a dark grey line with "sleepers" instead of the single black line.

This http://localhostr.com/files/fb80bb/OS%2023a.jpg was originally 1:15,000 - the boxes are 1km x 1km.
