I forgot my annual pass yesterday, didn't realise until I was walking out of Pearse.
fortunately the inspector there was decent and didn't write up a fine. He did say though that when I was paying for my ticket back in the evening, I could claim the price back by producing my pass the next day. is this correct?

Nope
If you knowingly are missing your annual ticket you must purchase a normal ticket, if you are found without your annual ticket, you will be issued a fine however if you submit a photocopy of the ticket and id with the fine notice the notice will be struck out

aye - I've done this before.
if you could claim the tickets back it'd be open to rampant abuse, which is why I was dubious about it. thanks.

Once IR have your money you have very little chance of ever prising it out of their sticky little fingers.....

So if you forget your annual pass, you're better off trying to evade the inspectors as if you get a fine it will be struck out?
Single to Broombridge anyone?
