As per the IRN message reproduced below there has been a Translink style mega-farce today:
"Apparently a southbound DART failed late this morning between Dún Laoghaire and Sandycove, causing the 1135 Connolly-Gorey service to be stopped at Dún Laoghaire.
After some time the decision was taken to return the 2800s on this service to Connolly and transfer the passengers there to the 1305 Connolly/Rosslare, as buses could not be obtained.
29107 was rostered on the 1305 service, and with two trainloads of pax left 20 minutes late and made it as far as Pearse (leaving the 6 piece 2800 set in Connolly), where flames were seen coming from the brakes. After a long wait at Pearse, the train was eventually replaced by 29019 and left Pearse at 1435 approximately, with a very irate group of passengers on board, and many standing.
What impact on DART services occurred we are unsure, as there is no mention of any of this on www.irishrail.ie or any other website for that matter!!"
