21 00 Dublin to Cork, Friday 16th May by Corporate Communications

Iarnród Éireann advises customers that the 21.00hrs Dublin Heuston to Cork service on Friday 16th May is deferred to 21.30hrs, to facilitate demand from a large number of customers attending a sporting fixture.

Iarnród Éireann thanks customers for their cooperation, and apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Two things about this:

1. There seems to be a conflict of information. According to the PR above it departs Heuston at 21:30, but according to the timetable it departs at 21:40

Dublin Heuston Limerick Junction 21:40 23:25 InterCity

2. According to the timetable the normal Limerick connection to the 21:00 Heuston Cork will depart at its normal scheduled time

Limerick Junction Limerick 16/05 22:48 23:16 0 Railcar

According to the timetable the deferred 21:00 train should reach Limerick Junction by 23:25 with the connection already gone? This doesn't seem right!

It leaves at 21:40, no connection at Limerick Junction

Once again a total mess of the situation

Of course a extra train should have been run at 22:00

It would be nice to inform Limerick passengers that the last train with a connection will be the 20:00.

What is the point in the 22:48 running if there is no cork train coming off the back of it? would many people board the train from LJ?

The sporting fixture is the celebrity bainisteoir thing

Mayfield from Cork made the final which is tonight

No staff to provide a extra train, not unexpected really, there was notice of a special train earlier in the week. Rule one you don't issue a notice saying there is a special train until you have both a train and a crew to operate it

Some talk that the fans are getting a discount on the rail fare as well

Usual mess really no one in IE knows whats going on

Irish Rail Sponsor Mayfield and rail tickets were on sale in the Mayfield Club house in the week running up to the final.
