Ennis to Limerick line to reopen on Thursday 27th March by Corporate Communications

Iarnród Éireann advise that they expect the Ennis to Limerick rail line to reopen this Thursday, 27th March.

Following a final track inspection early tomorrow morning, Iarnrod Eireann are confident the rail line will reopen for passenger trains starting with the 09.20 Limerick to Ennis service.

This is welcome news for the Ennis rail commuters following the closure of the line since the 6th February last due to flooding near Ballycar.

While train services will operate as normal over most of the coming weekend, planned track improvement works at Ennis Junction mean that train services will be replaced by bus transfers from 18.00 hrs on Saturday 29th March to 10.00hrs on Sunday 30th March.

Iarnrod Eireann apologies to customers for the inconvenience caused during this period of closure and are looking forward to the full resumption of train services on the Ennis line from next Monday.

Of course no one knows about these engineering works, surely the 7 week closure gave plenty of time to do them without disrupting the public yet more?

If the OPW are involved its about the flooding and they are likely to engage in a major exercise. Now, I wonder if they'll use the time for maintainence / improvement work while the line is closed.

No call for that kind of sarcasm. :D:D:D

Total muppetry, they had seven weeks to do the engineeering works when the line was closed and choose to do it instead the first weekend it re-opens:rolleyes:

perhaps the works needed are in the affected Ballycar area?

Regardless of any of this gents, this line forms part of the most hyped stretch of track in the country...the WRC. Its been closed for weeks. How would this look if it was an "intercity" line between Limerick and Galway????

The line is a badly built joke. Always was and always will be, even when the relay is complete. A waste of time and a waste of our taxes.
