Irish Rail well knew about this, in fact they had a least 2 weeks knowledge that this was going to happen
Members of course got a good 14 hours heads up in the members area of this

Irish Rail knew about this from at least Wednesday but kept accepting bookings on the effected trains
Mark Gleeson

Expect the same again this weekend.
Irish Rail are of course still taking bookings in full knowledge that there won't be a service per the timetable
Members of course got a good 14 hours heads up in the members area of this
Then why did you keep it such a great secret from the rest of us?

Since we had no firm confirmation, there is a full discussion concerning the reasons why we sometimes can't publicly disclose certain information in the members area
A significant amount of information that we recieve turns out to be rubbish as well, accuracy is important as is protecting the identify of those who provide the information

It would be a wise move to avoid the 8:30 and 10:30 trains from Cork tomorrow Sunday
Neither will be a Mk4 train, and since Cork only has 1 Mk3 set one wonders what they will send up. That means one train will be devoid of first and catering
Only options are a 4 car 2700 or possibly a Mk3 push pull set which seems to be lurking around Mallow on Sundays, most likely is the 2700 set
Edit Irish Rail have withdrawn all reservations from the 8:30 and 10:30 tomorrow
Mark Gleeson
10-02-2008, 16:25
A 2700 set appeared to work the 10:30 Cork Dublin and 14:00 Dublin Cork
No first, no catering and no reservations
The Mk4 fleet was fully serviceable on Sunday, this is yet another staffing issue

Exact repeat performance this week, usual cancellations and changes
Avoid the 10:30 Cork Dublin and 14:00 Dublin Cork

Iarnród Éireann apologises for the inconvenience caused.
All fun and games this morning. This is no an escalation of the work to rule, its the impact of someone calling in sick and Irish Rail failing to have adequate staff, there is meant to be one even two staff spare for the sick contingency, which of course given the spread of cancellation doesn't look to be the case.
People are still showing up in Cork for the 7:30 on Sunday morning, after all there is less than 48 hours notice of a cancellation. Claim your 50% refund folks for the delay http://www.railusers.ie/passenger_info/forms/delay_refund_intercity_heuston.pdf

So despite all the singing and dancing from Irish Rail the 2007 timetable continues to apply in Cork on Sunday, so why again did management set up last Thursday week, it hasn't made things any better on the ground
Fact is there aren't enough drivers to cover services
