NO TRAINS what so ever Mallow - Cork - Cobh

19:00, 20:00 and 21:00 Dublin Cork cancelled no substitution. The trains and drivers are trapped in the Cork area

Last train leaving Heuston for Munster 18:35 to Thurles. 18:30 to Tralee appears to be running.

However as Tralee services depend on drivers from Cork there may be issues as the trains they drive to Mallow are gone

Limerick,Galway,Waterford,Westport,Ballina are uneffected

Any idea if this will be a problem on Thursday?

Seeing that the required notice period for a strike has not been given, it's about time that Irish Rail sued the staff involved. It's these unofficial actions that make using the train painful; if you know a week in advance you can make alternative arrangements.

Apparently the strike is now over however this means the trains are all in the wrong place

The dispute involved one staff member (his colleagues supported him)and its concerns rosters. You'll remember that they went out last year aswell. There is a very big problem between staff and management in Cork. Morale is said to be very low. Suing staff is not the answer. Better management of staff is the way forward. IE management have a very poor record of doing this successfully.

Maybe there's a very good reason for going out on strike, but there are still procedures to be followed about how to do it. Calling a strike with no notice is unfair on customers who are just trying to use the rail service. While I appreciate that there may be problems between managements and staff, it doesn't justify hostage-taking. Irish Rail at least need to send a message that doing things the proper way is the only way that they will negotiate.

Most likely reason the strike ended so quickly was the threat of legal action and the staff being sued for the loss of revenue

Note the drivers in Cork despite serious ongoing issues with management have not gone on strike and have instead held firm operated only what they agreed to do and refused to work rest days, everything by the letter
