Monday 17th December - 11.35hrs

The 13.30hrs service from Cork to Dublin Heuston today is cancelled due to operational problems, involving absences not being covered by drivers.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for the inconvenience caused.

As Irish Rail know staff in Cork operate strictly to the rules and will refuse to work rest days and I don't blame them

For the last 50 years or so Cork rail staff tend not to work according to the rules - they usually work to their own rules. It's a well known fact the boys in Cork are the most uncooperative bunch on the railways. It's a pity and a shame and very selfish. They are heavily subsidised by the taxpayer and they know this. The solution? Take them on and suffer seerious disruption for a period until they agree to 'behave' themselves just like the rest (almost the rest) of rail staff.

It's true that they seem to have quite a bit more cancellations than other lines. But you can't be required to work more than 13 hours out of any 24 or 12 days out of any 14, that's the law.

That would not be good. The amount of passengers in their thousands, The last industrial action caused outrage.. They work long enough..

The 18.00hrs Dublin Heuston to Cork is cancelled this evening due to operational problems, involving late notice of a driver not covering an absence.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for the inconvenience caused, and the late notice.

Customers travelling to Thurles, Limerick Junction or Mallow are advised to travel on the 18.30hrs Dublin Heuston to Tralee, and customers travelling to Cork are advised to travel on the 19.00hrs Heuston to Cork.
