Dun Laoghaire is about the worst place to get stuck

Information would tend to suggest that one of the Connolly Gorey empty trains to have been the culprit
In light of the failure last night this would fit and its not the first time the empty train has sat down in Dun Loaghaire
This would certrainly explained delays this morning
Would that have been the set that usually runs the 08.00 Connolly sligo service?

Possibly, but Irish Rail are not in any hurry to provide detailed notices on the disruption
If a train fails it should be identifed clearly
why would an ordinary diesel train fault at dun laoghaire cause the DART network be shutdown all the way to Booterstown?

Depends where it breaks down and also the level of intelligence shown by the controlling signalman
At the moment it speculation that it was one of the empty Gorey trains

Maybe they had to turn the electricity off, which wouldn't stop DMUs.
