Due to an incident last night, the 23.20 service from Connolly to Dundalk was withdrawn from service. The Gardai requested these carriages be held pending 'further investigations'.
This in turn led to the cancellation of the 07.03 Dundalk to Connolly this morning. Hence all the passengers for this service had to get the 07.16 Dundalk to Bray service. However, this service was 15 mins late arriving (not sure why), and did not stop after Skerries due to overcrowding. It also picked up further delays between Malahide and Connolly. The driver failed to make any announcements after Skerries, including the one that should have advised passengers the train would not be calling at Rush+Lusk, and Donabate as per the timetable. And also in the 15 mins I waited at Skerries, only 1 announcement was made.
Then this evenings 17.13 Pearse-Dundalk service was reduced to 6 carriages, which was again heavily crowded. Not sure if this was connected.
Any ideas what happened, and when the impacted service will be back in service?

As we have being saying for ages the fleet is overstreched, there is nothing spare to cover for any eventuality

The cascade routine is then followed, those trains 6 coaches become 4 and those 8 become 6 until the gaps are plugged

If there was no announcement stating the train wasn't stopping after Skerries, that's a big failing. Not everyone is going to the city centre.

The 8:20 Enterprise from Drogheda was also 15 mins late, and the 8:32 was a 6-car 2600 set (though six coaches is generally okay on this service).

sounds serious if the gardai requested the train be impounded. any idea what happened?

The 17:50 Pearse-Drogheda was also reduced capacity yesterday due to 'operational problems'

I was on the 07.16 train from dundalk... we were told that there was an incident at dunleer the night before on the train that was supposed to be the 7.03 train. The 07.16 train stopped for a while outside dunleer and then proceeded slowly for a few miles. on the right hand side we could see members of the gardai and other people along the tracks( searching? )

from then on the train proceeded slowly to Drogheda. There was an announcement about the train not stopping beyond skerries, I was half asleep but i this it was stated just outside skerries or balbriggan. I was watching for reasons for the delays but nothing was forthcoming...

The cascade routine is then followed, those trains 6 coaches become 4 and those 8 become 6 until the gaps are plugged8 to 6 is a 25% reduction (a 33% increase in loading per car)
6 to 4 is a 33% reduction (a 50% increase in loading per car)

Surely the 8 car trains should be affected first or are they working on the basis that the 8-car trains match the peaks exactly.
