Development at Balbriggan Railway Station which is a protected structure. The development will consist of the demolition of the external wall between the ticket hall and platform, removal of doors and windows between the ticket hall and entrance porch and the demolition of the walls under the windows, demolition of internal walls and partitions and the extension of the ticket hall by construction of a new flat roof and installation of a glazed screen wall with automatic sliding doors between the platform-side returns of the existing building, the installation of a glazed screen and automatic sliding doors to the entrance porch and internal reconfiguration to provide dual height ticket windows, fully compliant accessible toilet accommodation and waiting areas and reconfigured staff facilities.

That sounds like a lot of demolition on a protected structure. I wonder what An Taisce will say about it.

That sounds like chaos. Especially when its finished, Exit validation at balbriggan will cause murder. There is usually in excess of 200 people getting off each commuter that arrives at rush hour, try and fit that through machines in a hurry!:confused:

Also, even when or if the station becomes the illogical terminus of the dart, how will they handle DMU's and the enterprise rolling through as well as added EMU's? The station has 2 tracks, its not like bray with a siding right behind it. The Drogheda line will still have to be busy, adding Dart's will only complicate it, unless there is 4 track sections put in, or even a 3rd exclusivly for the Enterprise and other express service's.:rolleyes:
