Of course they won't tell us why

They mention infrastructure works... Honestly, I'm not trying to be smart mouth. What do you think they should say?

It should clearly state

1 Why the work is being done
2 What the outcome of the works will be from a service/passenger point of view.

There has been far too much of the essential/upgrade line in the past only to find that infact the status quo remained after the works. We know this is a turnback siding.

So it should say

In order to facilitate the installation of new track, points and signals near Clonsilla station.......

These works will enable a more reliable and higher frequency service Clonsilla Docklands as well as providing the necessary junction for the line to Dunboyne/Pace due to begin construction in .....

Hopefully ie will do a better job with informing passengers of this change there were passengers at stations waiting on cancelled trains last week. It is an inconvinience to me but he in the longrun there will be benefits to clonsilla passengers its worth the hassle. I will either have to push myself to get the ten o clock train or get the bus home for a while. Not for too long though i take the bus home on a sunday night and it drives me crazy i dont want to be doing it too much on a saturday. Out of interest any news on possible sunday night maynooth trains in the new timetable.

I got to see the works on my way home this evening.

The trackwork that was at the side of the track is now installed and the junction for the Navan line is visible so why is the service being curtailed for the next few Saturday nights?

Signalling work? The rails might be in but that mightn't mean they're considered installed?

You can add the 21.55 pearse-maynooth to the list of cancellations. I made the mistake of not reading the updated version on the website not that i knew there was an updated version on the website

Its classic Irish Rail two fingers to the passengers, put notice up then change it

The 1030 Sunday (26-aug) Maynooth Pearse was delayed by 35 mins yesterday due to the works going on too long.

On Saturday the 1550 from Greystones to Maynooth was desperately slow after Connolly, arriving in Maynooth just before 1745. Cue mad dash to the 67A..

Two hours for a thirty five mile journey is simply insane.
