Yesterday, the 11th of August, I came home to find a green envelope addressed to "Improving local services"
Inside was a northern line commuter timetable valid from 14th January til 8th December or less than 4 months. Why wouldn't IE do this in January or February?
It also claims there's up to 35 services a day
when the timetable attached sows there's 25 Connolly to R&L services on weekdays, 28 R&L services to Connolly
Why do I even care any more?
I was amused at that also. It took them 8 months to get it into letter boxes. What a complete waste of money. It actually makes them look completely unorganised. Once people realised, these were published 8 months ago, how many of these simply went into the bin?
I was used to this concept by London Underground, but they always wrote to you around the time of the new timetable, not 8 months later.
When the new 'improved' services are launched in early December, that is the time to put it in people's letter boxes. Might even get some Xmas shoppers out of their cars.
However, it will need to address the significant gaps in services on Saturdays and Sundays, before it will start to appeal to off peak users. You also need some integration with the LUAS, so those allighting at Connolly, can get up to Henry st/Jervis st. etc.
