Still no sign of it, the inbound leg was more or less on time but the departure to Drogheda doesn't seem to have materialised out of Pearse

It eventually arrived in Connolly at about 21:45. The driver apologised for the delay, which was due to "technical problems". We then proceeded off at what seemed much slower than normal. Got to Laytown about 22:55, so lost even more time along the way. Then the train stopped a little way out of Drogheda for no apparent reason. We stood still while the engines revved quite hard but the train didn't move. Then the driver announced that he couldn't get the brakes off and was waiting for assistance. The engines revved for another few minutes, then the train started moving very slowly, and crawled the whole way into Drogheda, arriving about 13:10 - the best part of an hour late, but conveniently enough for IE, not quite late enough to be able to claim a refund.

Fortunately I'm going on holidays, so it takes more than that to dampen my mood (we'll see if Ryanair can do that!).

On the plus side, the driver did announce every station (it was a 2600, so no automatic announcements).

Is the brakes an issue at the moment. I was on a train that was put out of service due the driver being unable to release the brakes and the newspaper article on the problems that the 2 commuter trains had at lansdowne road-sydney parade a couple of weeks ago said that the driver of the maynooth train had problems with releasing the brakes. that train was put out of service at connolly. Having said that the above cases i mentioned were all 29000 sets.

I would feel a bit safer if a train had that problem instead of not being able to apply the brakes!
