DART & Commuter services for St. Patrick’s Festival by Service Planning - DART

St. Patrick’s Day – Saturday 17th March 2007

Festival Parade; 12.00hrs to 14.00hrs starting at Parnell Square
CeilÃ* Mór: 14.30hrs to 17.30hrs Earlsfort Terrace
Funfair: 11.00hrs to 23.00hrs Merrion Square West
Tastefest: 11.00hrs to 19.00hrs RDS Main Hall

Please note:

Tara Street Station will be closed all day

DART Services

A Sunday DART service will operate with the following alterations:

10.00hrs Bray/Howth will be deferred to 10.07hrs.
16.10hrs Greystones/Howth will now operate from Bray at 16.20hrs.
19.45hrs Bray/Howth is now advanced to 19.40hrs.
19.50hrs Greystones/Malahide is now deferred to 20.00hrs.
13.05hrs Howth/Greystones is now deferred to 13.15hrs.
14.45hrs Malahide/Greystones will operate to Bray only.
18.05hrs Malahide/Greystones is now deferred to 18.10hrs.

DART special trains will operate before and after the Festival Parade.

Southside DART specials will operate to and from Pearse Station only.
Northside DART specials will operate to and from Connolly Station only.
But you won't give specific details on when

Commuter Services

A Sunday Commuter service will operate with the following additional services:

08.53hrs Dun Laoghaire/Drogheda will depart Connolly at 09.37hrs. This train runs every Sunday and why the 15 minute hold up?
13.10hrs Pearse/Drogheda is deferred to 13.13hrs. This train runs every Sunday
15.10hrs Pearse/Drogheda is deferred to 15.13hrs. This train runs every Sunday
20.30hrs Pearse/Dundalk is deferred to 20.40hrs. This train runs every Sunday
08.55hrs Drogheda/Rosslare Europort will operate to Connolly Station only. So the morning train to Rosslare is cancelled, wouldn't call that additional


Please note: 18.45hrs Longford/Connolly will NOT serve Enfield. There is no 18:45 on any day of the week so what train is it

The following special trains will also operate:

09.40hrs Maynooth/Connolly
13.00hrs Maynooth/Connolly
17.20hrs Drumcondra/MaynoothWhy not Connolly?



Please Note: On Monday 19th March, a Sunday service will operate on the DART and Commuter routes.
Please check at your local station for further details, in advance of travel.

Avoid the queues, travel early and buy pre-paid tickets.
All tickets can be purchased in advance from any Iarnród Éireann booking office.Not at Blackrock since it will be closed after 7pm all weekend

Because of the large numbers of people expected to travel over the St. Patrick’s weekend services may be delayed.

Is that in case it might be convenient to the travelling public?

Also:

Because of the large number of people expecting to travel we are going to reduce service. Interesting concept.

What if the HSE decided that because more people get sick in Jan-Feb-March that they would close the Mater A&E...

So am I correct in thinking there are actually no extra services for the travelling public from Fingal on that day? If so, I think that is a disgrace.
They have always run extra services in previous years, especially going in around 11am and afterwards. And if memory serves me correctly, people still complained over overcrowding.
So much for encouraging family friendly transport....

I take it that there will be less people on the move on Saturday in Northern Ireland yet there are more trains.Why is there less trains in Ireland, espically on the commuter network? For instance i will be taking the train on Saturday into town, from Bray, to see the parade. There must be thousands more like me who live close to Dublin and who travel into Dublin for the parade or the nightlife. And I'm sure it's the same situation in Cork.

Also how come there will be a Saturday service on the bank holiday monday in Northern Ireland?

So anyone any idea's what where the loadings like, in particular on the Northern line which had no extra services?
Glad to see the morning news reports no major incidents - was it last year a significant number of windows got smashed at Howth Junction, on the one DART.....

Some Northern line trains where packed but where running as 8 coach

There where a few incidents where people where thrown off for drinking, very heavy presence at Howth Junction of security staff
