A totally confused piece by Tim O'Brien of the Irish Times. I'm not surprised at really bad and sloppy reporting from that newspaper. All views and very little news.

So 100 million between Bus and Rail companies. I don't really understand where the 95 million shortfall is. Should it read 9.5 million on losses this year, that would mean a 7 million drop over 2013. Wage, fleet cuts, fare increases and passenger growth. Am I being to optimistic!
Speed is still an issue so hopefully it can address it on the network.

This is capital funding to side step some issues with EU rules.
Mainly focused on safety projects and repairs, so Cork & Waterford will get some cash. Further level crossing upgrades etc and as always some recycling of existing committed funding for Dublin signalling projects
