Take Luas to St. Patrick’s Festival 14-17 Mar

Luas is delighted to be supporting St. Patrick’s Festival as an official sponsor once again this year! Events for the 2014 festival take place over 4 days from Friday14th – Monday 17th March and promise to be the best yet!

Kick start this year’s Festival celebrations on 14th March & take a walking tour of Dublin to see many of Dublin’s most notable places like Christchurch and St Patrick’s Cathedrals. This walking tour of the nation’s capital is led by leading Dublin historian Pat Liddy You might also like to visit the Irish Craft & Beer Market at the CHQ building or enjoy ‘The Greening’ of the city from 4pm where some of Dublin’s land mark sites will be lit up by green night lights.

The popular Festival CéilÃ* and street performers offer a unique and fun-filled way to spend an afternoon dancing on the streets of Dublin on Friday 14th & 15th March. Don’t miss heading lining singer Jerry Fish Live OnThe Green (St Stephen’s Green) at 6pm on Saturday 15th.

On Sunday 16th March The Gannon Cup Irish University Boat Race rows off on the Liffey. See UCD take on Trinity in this 2km race from O’Connell Bridge to St James’s Gate. Remember for more details on Luas routes visit www.luas.ie/routes

‘Let’s Make History’, the theme for the 2014 Festival Parade will be animated by Ireland’s leading pageant companies, their fantastical creations and thrilling performances inspired by the past will enthral and excite. Amidst the colourful pageantry, bands from the USA, Germany, Estonia and Ireland will deliver uplifting scores and rousing beats. The Festival Parade kicks off at 12 noon.

St. Patrick's Day Schedule Information:

* The hours of operation on St Patrick’s Day are 07.00am -11.30pm on the Red Line and the Green Line.

* If you are travelling to Saggart please change at Belgard

* On the Luas Red Line the last morning tram to the city centre before parade is 10.00am (Tallaght/Saggart)

* Trams will operate to Smithfield only between 10.30am -2.30pm on the Luas Red Line. Full Red Line service will resume at 2.30pm

* The Green line will be unaffected by the parade.

Please allow extra time to travel as the trams will be busy on the day.

http://www.irishrail.ie/stpatricksweekendMonday 17th March: On DART and Commuter, a Sunday service will operate, but with extra trains before and after the parade. For crowd control reasons, Tara Street Station will be closed until 16.00hrs. Intercity services will operate to a revised Sunday schedule, and customers are advised to check times before travelling.
