[29/10/2013] Northern line 20 min delays 6pm

Presently 20 min delays to both Northbound and southbound trains due to adhesion issues. No announcements on trains or via overhead displays. But announcement made on platform when we arrived in, apologising.

DART was a shambles for most of the day with the majority of services running late, a good number being delayed by between twenty and thirty minutes. Low rail adhesion may have been a factor in some instances but inflexible and unimaginative operation meant that the DART service never fully recovered at any stage.

Other issues included some minor problems with the new northside signalling system, delays associated with the post-peak transition to reduced set sizes, a points problem at Dun Laoghaire and some delays around lunchtime in the Balbriggan area. The DART mess reacted badly on Enterprise and commuter services as these trains were typically held at Pearse and Connolly to follow DARTs in timetable order.
