City Centre and North Dublin Resignalling Project Works
Due to these works on 5th and 6th May between Clontarf Road and Malahide, Northside DART, Northern Commuter and Belfast Enterprise services will be affected. Full service details will be confirmed in advance.

It now appears that Irish Rail have extended the May Bank Holiday weekend closure of the Belfast line from two days to three. Beware therefore of previously unadvertised disruption on Monday May 7th. Also there are no DART services north of Connolly (not Clontarf Road) on May 5th, 6th or 7th.

Due to these works on Saturday 5th, Sunday 6th and Monday 7th May, the rail line will be closed between Clontarf Road and Portmarnock. DART services will operate between Greystones/Bray and Connolly Station only.

Customers can use regular Dublin Bus services who will accept valid rail tickets.

Northern Commuter services will operate to a revised timetable between Dundalk/Drogheda and Malahide only. Full details for these services are contained in this temporary timetable (http://www.irishrail.ie/media/A5BookletMalahide-DundalkTempT.T1.pdf).

Belfast Enterprise services will operate between Drogheda and Belfast only with Bus Transfers between Connolly and Drogheda.

Sligo and Rosslare Intercity services and Maynooth and M3 Parkway Commuter services will operate as normal.

May Bank Holiday Service Arrangements - including details of Track Works between Clontarf Road and Portmarnock

Customers travelling over the May bank holiday weekend are advised to check times before travelling through the timetable search (http://www.irishrail.ie/timetables) or the updated May Bank Holiday Timetable PDF (http://www.irishrail.ie/index.jsp?p=119&n=147).

Customers are also asked to please note that there is a temporary timetable (http://www.irishrail.ie/media/A5BookletMalahide-DundalkTempT.T1.pdf) operating due to service disruptions on Malahide/Drogheda/Dundalk line.

SERVICE DISRUPTIONS BETWEEN CLONTARF ROAD & PORTMARNOCK STATIONS

Due to Engineering works between Clontarf Road and Portmarnock stations there will be NO TRAIN SERVICE between Connolly and Malahide/Howth stations on Saturday 5th, Sunday 6th and Monday 7th May, 2012.

The following stations will be CLOSED for train services:

Malahide */Portmarnock/Clongriffin/Howth/Sutton/Bayside/Howth Junction & Donaghmede/Kilbarrack/Raheny/Harmonstown/Killester and Clontarf Road.

*Drogheda/Dundalk commuter service will operate to/from Malahide station.

Customers are asked to please note the following;

Customers travelling to or from affected DART stations: Dublin Bus will accept all valid rail tickets on their scheduled services.
DART services with minor alterations will operate between Connolly and Bray/Greystones.
Belfast Enterprise services will operate to/from Drogheda with a direct bus transfer to/from Connolly station.
Drogheda/Dundalk Commuter services will operate to/from Malahide station only. Dublin Bus will accept all valid rail tickets on their scheduled services to City Centre.

"Iarnród Éireann is pleased to inform customers and businesses that this weekend’s planned resignalling commissioning is being deferred, and that full DART, Northern Commuter and Belfast Enterprise services will operate across the weekend (5th to 7th May).

Recognising the concerns of businesses and tourism, the works are being postponed, and the schedule for commissioning of the new signalling is being reexamined. Priorities will be to minimise disruption, minimise costs and meet commissioning process requirements. A new schedule for these works will be confirmed in due course."

This is a pure joke a friend of mine told me last night the work was cancelled by the RSC as the Signalling department hadn't got their act together and this rubbish the company is peddling quoted above from a press release is beyond belief. I was also told this is the second time this work has been cancelled again by the RSC due to the signalling dept not going through the right channels.

hilarious how IE are dressing this up as doing everyone a solid when in reality it looks like a complete cock-up, with at the least revenue lost from people who made other plans.

The RSC may well of canceled it but Irish Rail were coming under pressure during the week from business and people for the perlonged closure for a second hoilday weekend and the porblems it would cause for people. The complete lack of notice other than there website didn't help and many business didn't become aware of it until this week.

It could have been the RSC, but unlikely. There is a new commercial director in Irish Rail who would appears to have the power to overrule the engineers if not safety related.

While this weekend was not a good choice, it was however the first weekend in a long time which did not have a major match of one code or another in Dublin.
