Was vox popped by CTV Kitchener when I got off the intercity train on a work trip during the week (http://swo.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20111124/go-transit-expansion-waterloo-region-111124/20111124/?hub=SWOHome) about commuter service starting from there. The current service is a balls because there's only 3 return services and the first gets in at almost lunch time - it was only because I needed to do out-of-hours work in our office that it was worth doing.
Said train is a Dick Fearn nightmare - a locomotive roughly equivalent to a single cab 071 with HEP plus two 1950s era stainless steel carriages - no pushpull either. A good chunk of the line is operated by a freight company who is being a pain in the balls about getting more double track and some CTC done.
