Quick question.

If I need to get from Lansdowne Rd to Heuston, can I do it on a single ticket with the LUAS included? And if not, what about selecting Cherry Orchard as the first station beyond Heuston?

I know that a ticket like Cork-Dundalk can be used on the LUAS, but does the same apply to commuter tickets as InterCity and how does it work for tickets that terminate at Heuston?

The booking office can issue the ticket with the Luas included

The ticket machines on the Heuston side have Dublin City Centre on them

Problem on the Connolly side was people selecting Dublin City Centre and getting rather confused as they didn't want to go to Heuston at all so the feature was removed, though there might be a Heuston station option

We are in discussions with Irish Rail to streamline everything basically go with a generic Dublin City and a Dublin City with add on say Dublin City Xfare which would simplify matters and massively reduce the complexity of the fares system

Kind of like London Terminals then?

Exactly

Merging Connolly/Tara/Pearse/Heuston/Docklands would massively simplify the fares system which in turn would mean booking Pearse/Tara to Sligo and elsewhere.

Would also solve the Cork to Connolly fare issue online as well

I'll head out to check the TVM's current software and report

I just looked at the machine in Lansdowne Rd.

Heuston isn't a destination.

Nor is Parkwest/Cherry Orchard.

And nor is Cork for that matter.

So, anomalously, you can buy a Cork-Lansdowne Rd ticket from the TVM in Cork, but not the other way around.
