Is there an approximate opening date? The RPA website has changed several times and currently says "Summer 2011" Can anyone narrow it down a bit?

Overhead wiring can proceed quite quickly (I think Docklands took about 3 weeks), so 1-2 months for Citywest. I understand all electrical and signaling is under one contract, so it'll be when you see the electrical equipment (excluding TVMs) is complete that we'll see the start of tram testing and it will be perhaps 2-3 months after that before public operations.

It seems Efacec have started the wiring. They also did Cherrywood and Docklands.

Suggested opening date of May 2011.

In 2007, as a subcontractor of the Somague-Sacyr-Bowen consortium, in 2007 Efacec won the tender for the new Dublin Light Metro B1 Line (LUAS) with a double-track length of 7.5 km and 11 stations.

This contract was the largest ever of won by Efacec’s Transport Unit in the international market, and reinforced our leading position as supplier of transport solutions, particularly for Light Railway Systems.

This success was the result of extraordinary teamwork with the direct participation of a number of Units and whose total of responsibility limits originated a high quality, competitive and innovative project. The project continued with its developments during the year 2009.

We have been given two dates at the very start of July by the RPA

2nd or the 9th depends on a combination of factors and lessons learned from the Cherrywood opening.

I need to get to Citywest from Heuston next week. Seeing that the LUAS isn't open yet, what's the best way to get there?

I'll be coming up from Cork. Am I correct in assuming that I'm best off going as far as Heuston or is there some intermediary stop that's a better option? Seeing that it's my money, I'd prefer to use a bus than a taxi!

Thanks in advance
