Wednesday Night December 1 at 23:00

The Luas Red and Green Lines are expected to operate till 00.30 as per the timetable.

Please note the Green line service is in operation from Sandyford stop to Brides Glen stop only.

There is no Green Line service between St Stephens Green and Sandyford Stop as of now.

On the Red Line Connolly Luas stop is closed - The service is operating fully between The Point stop and Tallaght.

Luas service updates will commence again at 6am tomorrow Thursday December 2nd 2010.

Passengers are advised to check www.transport.ie for transport information and listen to AA Roadwatch and local and national media for Luas service updates.

I suspect its a matter of convenience / practicality. If they leave the points set for The Point, then they can't get stuck in the wrong position.

Those points were troublesome when they were installed for the Docklands extension.

Can anybody clarify if this is expected to effect all trains for the evening or if the delay only effects the train that was en route when the fault happened? It's hard to figure it out from the way the tweet is worded.

I think the 13:00 is delayed because the 09:10 was delayed and most other Waterford services have delayes between 20 - 30mins.

It's hard to figure it out from the way the tweet is worded.The trick is to defrost the points and they will then work (at least until they snow / freeze over the next time). That is assuming its a normal snow / points issue.

So, because this train is late, it will have a knock-on effect on other services, but as there is usually some recovery time between services, those delays should (hopefully) be less than 60 minutes.

Site Update - 4:20pm

16:00 hrs The Luas Green Line is operating from Sandyford stop to Brides Glen stop only. There is no service from St Stephens Green to Sandyford. This is due a weather related issue at Charlemont and Milltown Stops. Maintenance crews are working on the issue and passengers are advised to check the web and listen to media reports.

The Luas Red Line is operating a full line service The Point Stop to Tallaght however there are delays and Luas Connolly Stop remains closed due to weather conditions.
