ALL DART AND COMMUTER SERVICES RESTORED

Iarnród Éireann has advised customers that following early morning disruption, all DART and Commuter services have now resumed.
Disruption had been caused by overnight lightning which affected overhead power lines and signalling systems in the Greater Dublin area.
However, crews have now rectified the faults, and will continue to work to keep points clear of snow and ice to maintain services.

Dangerous road conditions after snow

Motorists have been warned to take care when travelling this morning after heavy snowfalls in some parts of the country have made driving conditions difficult.
Road temperatures are reported to be well below zero in many areas this morning; with temperatures as low as -3.6C on the N3 in Cavan and -3C on the N13 in Donegal.
AA Roadwatch reports heavy snowfall overnight has resulted in treacherous conditions in parts of Leinster; in particular in parts of counties Wexford, Wicklow, Kildare and Meath.
In the west affected areas include counties Sligo, Mayo, Galway and further north in Donegal.
Commuters are also experiencing travel problems due to the adverse weather with Dart services and Northern
commuter, Belfast and Rosslare services cancelled earlier today.
Flight operations have now resumed at Dublin airport following the closure of the main runway from early morning due to snow and ice.
Red line Luas services were delayed by approximately 5-10 minutes and a number of bus services have also been affected.
Disruption to Dart and Luas services this morning was caused by overnight lightning which affected overhead power lines and signalling systems. Southside Dart services are now resuming but there are still delays on northside services.
Luas users are reminded that from 10am, red line services will only operate between Tallaght and Smithfield due to a protest march being held in Dublin.
Dublin Bus advises customers that due to bad weather conditions a number of diversions are in place affect routes 15, 31,38,40b,40d,44b,45,50, 63, 65, 66a, 75,77,114 and 185. Dublin Bus also warned that today's protest in Dublin will likely impact on services too. Commuters are advised to check their website (www.dublinbus.ie) for updates throughout the day.
Motorists are being urged to reduce their speed significantly and to keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of them.
In Co Wicklow, the Sally Gap and Wicklow Gap are impassable due to the snow and drivers are advised to avoid the area. Very icy conditions have also been reported on the N11 between the Rathnew and Arklow exits.
In Co Kildare, Motorists are reporting treacherous conditions on the M7 Limerick/Dublin Rd at J12 Newbridg and icy conditions are reported in Navan, Laytown and Kentsown in Co Meath.
In Connaught, bad road conditions are reported in counties Roscommon, Sligo, Mayo, and Donegal.
Meanwhile in Munster, there are icy road conditions in and around Waterford City and in Tralee in Co Kerry.
