Hi folks, I'm working in China these days and won't be back in Ireland till early next year. I've tried having a quick look at the RUI forums from time to time over the past few months and realised it seems to be blocked by the authorities over here. Why on earth? Anyone got any ideas/explanation?

Isn't a lot of activism frowned upon in China?

Perhaps https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ei.htmlPolitical pressure groups and leaders:

Rail Users Ireland (formerly the Platform 11 - transportation promoters);

The rest of the list is a lot more "colourful" than us.

I imagine if you were as open about the failings of rail operators in China as we're accustomed to here the State would get bent out of shape (especially since high speed rail is one of the things China is in the top three or four in the world at).

Actually, occasionally you do hear reassuring stuff from China. The ordinary people are mostly decent and the state has set high standards for itself. Its the intervening layers where businesses pay off the local police or health officials is where the big problems are.

Sometimes the petition system does work and things do happen. http://english.caing.com/2010-10-22/100191342.html
