Glounthaune to Cobh Railway Line:

Upgrading of the Glounthaune to Cobh Railway Line is continuing this Friday, 5th November with the renewal of a railway bridge between Rushbrooke and Cobh from 18.30hrs until 08.00hrs on Sunday morning, the 7th November 2010.

Iarnród Éireann would like to advise customers that normal scheduled commuter train services will continue to operate in both directions between Cork, Littleisland and Glounthaune during these upgrading works.

However, bus transfers are scheduled to operate in both directions between Glounthaune, Fota (on the roadside outside the entrance to Fota Wildlife), Carrigaloe, Rushbrooke and Cobh.

Customers travelling from Cobh, Rushbrooke, Carrigaloe and Fota to Littleisland or Cork will be transferred by bus to Glounthaune – with a rail connection from Glounthaune to Cork (serving Littleisland).

Bus transfers are scheduled to depart Cobh, Rushbrooke, Carrigaloe and Fota the same time as the train timetable.

However, customers should note that an approx. 10 minute delay may occur on these bus transfers.

Cork to Midleton Railway Line:

Normal Cork to Midleton Commuter Rail Services will continue to operate as scheduled (in both directions) during these upgrading works.

Free Parking at Glounthaune Station: To facilitate the “pick up” and “drop off” of passengers by bus at Glounthaune Station (on roadside outside station) – car parking charges at Glounthaune Station have been suspended during these upgrading works.

Commuters will be able to park “free of change” at Glounthaune Station from 18.30hrs on Friday, 5th November until and including Sunday, 7th November 2010.

In order to assist the smooth operation of the bus transfers at Glounthaune Station - “Park & Ride” Commuters are being asked not to park on the roadside immediately outside Glounthaune Station and to use the Station Car Park instead.

Customers with special needs should contact their local station or phone (021) 450-6777 for assistance during these upgrading works.

Iarnród Éireann would like to thank customers for their co-operation and apologises for any inconvenience which may occur during these upgrading works.
