I was on the train in question Colm.

It approached Ballybrophy at 1833 and 'pretty severe' braking was applied that brought the train to a stop at 1834 with only the first two coaches in line with the platform. After a minute elapsed the train moved forward and stopped at its correct position at 1835. We left at 1836.
I wondered what was the cause of the 'pretty severe' braking?

I've provided information on the 'Inter City Experiences' forum on my travels to-day - Kildare/Cork/Kildare.
It doesn't reflect very well on IE!

Sounds like either

1. Driver instructed to stop under emergency conditions and await instruction.
2. The damn parking brake issue
