Clean up Work at broombridge?

Saw a digger and large dump truck at the waste ground to right of broombridge maynooth bound platform this morning.
First signs of a clean up operation?

No, Luas extensions on the Northside are still very much at the theoretical stages.

Its the RPA alright they lodged the planning application yesterday

The boulders and concrete on the ground has been torn up and moved to one side. Fingers crossed it is related to the railway order for the luas line.

Am I the only one that thinks building a Luas in that area is a monster-sized mistake?

The railway order ad in the papers today details plans to put in Bike parking, customer car parking, station buildings and other such passenger facilites. I think having a major transport interchange at that location will mean vastly increased passenger footfall which should be some deterrent for anti social behaviour. The interchange will also mean a greater staff presence and some sort of security presence. Also, building on the grounds to change the wastelands to some sort of regularily used buildings will help a lot.
If managed correctly I think it can be a success.

I discussed it at length with one of the architects who worked on Broombridge, they have quite significant plans to really change the area

There will be a footbridge as well allowing easy rail-luas interchange

There will be a maintenance facility there as well so there will be a good turnover of staff at all times of day.

With Dunboyne services running to Docklands, Broombridge provide a link to the city centre for those passengers and with the reuse of the old MGWR route to Broadstone it should be fairly quick as well. Also provides a fallback if Maynooth line services can't get into Connolly

But what are the timescales now after the planning permission, when could we see construction actually start?

On a slightly separate point, is there any news then on the infamous Royal Canal Park/Pelletstown station?
