Hi guys,

does anyone know if there are plans to run services from Midleton for the Cork City Marathon next Monday week 7/2/2010?

Its a bank holiday, so services are running to a Sunday timetable, i.e. first train arrives into Cork @ 09:08 - race start is 09:00. A service an hour earlier would be handier to get ppl in, especially as the traffic coming in from the East will be curtailed due to the route of the marathon heading out the N8 towards the Jack Lynch Tunnel.

In the UK, train operators put on extra trains for both the London and Brighton marathons (http://www.southernrailway.com/southern/news/news-archive/2010/03/all-aboard-southerns-brighton-marathon-specials/), any chance we might get the same for Cork City Marathon?

Would be easier for me to get the train than have to drive to Cork to find a carpark space.

What buses are operating? Word from Cork is that they spoke to the organisers to get the numbers registered from locations along the line. The small numbers meant this was (if you'll pardon the pun) a non runner. It will be reviewed again next year.

numbers registered to run the 2010 Cork City Marathon from Cobh, Midleton, Carrigtwohill and Glounthaune do indicate to us that there would be a demand for an earlier train......
