[Dublin Bus] Changes to bus routes in Blanchardstown, Stillorgan and Lucan on the way

Just for reference for passengers who rely on dublin bus connections, there are changes to dublin bus connections taking place soon. The first phase of these changes cover the Blanchardstown, Lucan and Stillorgan areas.

These changes are expected to take place over the summer

The route maps and frequencies look good, but the implementation (without political influence) as always will be the key.

Looking at the routes around Blanch, there seems to be zero indication that these buses actually serve other forms of transport.

It would be good to record each stop that serves a train station and pass these onto DB in an effort to advertise these facts.

The new 145 (Heuston to Ballywaltrim via north quays, O'Connell Bridge, D'Olier Street, Kildare Street, Leeson Street, Stillorgan Road, Foxrock Church, Cabinteely, and Loughlinstown) looks useful.

I was thinking that myself but given the 10 is going it would be the better choice to send the 46A upto infirmary road

The 145 is still a good frequent service... A good replacement for the 92

The map is now showing links with other forms of transportation.

For example the Blanchardstown map now shows

- Enhanced 17A : Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown to Howth Junction DART Station

- Clonsilla station: will be served by the new route 39, to get the new 39A walk to the traffic lights (right out of the station) turn left then at traffic lights turn right, bus shelter is there

- Coolmine Station: enhanced 37 passes around the corner from the station, the coolmine end is served by the 39, the 237 is to be cancelled.

- Castleknock Station: Served by the 37 and the 38, walk to Blanchardstown village to get the 38 or 39

- Phoenix Park station: served by 38/A, 39/A, 70

- Ashtown station: Served by 38/A, 39/A, 70, 120

Frequencies will be

37: 10 peak, 20 off-peak

38: 20 peak and off-peak
38A: 20 peak

39: 20 peak and off-peak
39A: 10 peak and off-peak

70: 20 peak, 60 off-peak

It would be interesting if they ran, say, the 39a via Heuston and even the Phoenix Park. It would improve the N11-Heuston connection and provide a lot of Balnchardstown with a proper connection to Heuston.

Just to bump this thread dublin bus are still saying the new services will begin this sunday, 25th july although seeing is believing.

They are saying they wont release timetables until the end of the week as last time it happened it caused mass confusion

So it's looking Highly likely that the blanchardstown and castleknock leg of the dublin bus network direct programme will kick in next Sunday 31st October

Changes include:

- the cessation of the 10 route replaced by the 39a running between ongar and belfield

- the extension of the 37, 38/a, 39, 70 to baggott street

- the extension of the 17a running between blanchardstown centre and kilbarrack DART station

- 70 bus will no longer serve blanchardstown

Stations served by Dublin buses are:

Dunboyne: 70, 270
Clonsilla: 39, 239, walking distance to 39a
Coolmine: 37, walking distance to 39
Castleknock: 37, 38, walking distance 39
Phoenix park: 38/a, 39/a, 70
Ashtown: 37, 38/a, 39/a, 70

Also, Dublin bus are now advertising that the current clondalkin (51b/c, 68, 69) currently based in Aston quay will replace the 37 / 38 / 39 / 70 in Hawkins street from the 31st

The extension of the 37 and 39 to baggot street / grand canal is an interesting development. I can see this being an alternative to the train for people working over on the southside of the inner city or ballsbridge direction.
Personally, if I am travelling on a pre 7am service I will be take the bus and walk from the grand canal rather than talking the train + dart.
Later on in the morning the train will still win out because of traffic, but nice to have an alternative.

Where exactly will the terminus be? Wilton Terrace? And will buses return via Leeson Street or what? I can't quite figure it out.

The bus terminus will either be at Wilton Terrace on the corner directly outside William Fry's office and will turn left out onto Cumberland Road and then left out onto Fitwilliam Place and then right onto Leeson Street and continue from there. Or it will be further down Wilton Terrace (Lad Lane) at the little park outside of Wilton Park House and they will circle the little park and head back up towards Cumberland Road and follow same route onto Fitzwilliam Place and then onto Leeson Street. This route is still deep in negotiations as they need to get permission from the various offices in the vicinity as up to now the buses (both Dublin Bus, Bus Eireann and private buses) parked alongside William Fry's offices have been causing significant disruption so obviously the landlord will be reluctant to agree to a new bus terminus and the landlord in Wilton Park House will also be reluctant given that Lad Lane is quite narrow and they will have experienced the disruption outside William Fry's offices.

Can only speak on whaat I know is fact and those two terminus options are being discussed. I'm sure it's a possibility, if an agreement isn't reached on either of those, that burlington road will be optioned

The 37/38/39/70 bus heads down Waterloo road, and turns left onto Burlington road where they setdown. The first stop is at the junction of baggot street and Pembroke row,

The terminus is about 10-15 minutes walk away from ballsbridge/lansdowne road
