Unreadable Private Messages

Has anyone else an issue with this?

At the top right of the page, it informs me "Private Messages: Unread 2, Total 3". But when I go in to them, I only see the private message that I've previously read.

We have had spammers pm large groups of forum members. Once we are aware of this happening we do a blanket delete on the system of all pm's sent by that account

The delete process is a litle crude, the pm count might be out of sync for a short while before vbulletin does some housekeeping
